இந்த படுகொலையின் போது அங்கு தண்ணீர் பரிமாறி கொண்டிருந்த சில இளைஞ்ர்களில் ஒருவன் தான் உதம் சிங். குருதி தோய்ந்த மண்ணை தன் சட்டை பையில் சேகரித்து வைத்து கொண்டு தாக்குதல் செய்ய சொன்னவனை (அம்பு எய்தியவனை - Michael O´Dwyer ) பலி வாங்க துடிக்கிறான். ஆகையால் இரண்டு மாதங்களாக அவனை தேடி அலைகிறான். ஆனால் அதன் பின்னரே உதம் சிங்குக்கு தெரிய வருகிறது Michael O´Dwyer மாற்றல் ஆகி இங்கிலாந்துக்கே சென்று விட்டான் என்று.

துவளவில்லை உதம் சிங். அதே ஆண்டு அவனை தேடி இங்கிலாந்துக்கு பயணம் அடைகிறான். இங்கிலாந்து சென்று சர்வர் வேலை போன்ற சிறு சிறு வேலைகள் செய்து கொண்டே Michael O´Dwyer - ஜ தேடுகிறார். ஒரு ஆண்டு அல்ல இரண்டு ஆண்டு அல்ல ..... 21 ஆண்டுகள் தேடி கடைசியாக 13 - Mar - 1940 ஆண்டு ஒரு பொது விழாவில் கண்டு பிடித்து Michael O´Dwyer - ஜ கொல்கிறான். மேலும் அந்த விழாவில் இருக்கும் 3 உயர் அதிகாரிகளையும் நோக்கியும் சுடுகிறார். அவர்கள் முவரும் படுகாயமடைந்து ( Lord Zetland, Luis Dane and Lord Lamington ) பிழைத்து கொள்கிறார்கள்.

மூன்று மாதங்களில் விசாரணை முடிந்து உதம் சிங்கை தீவிரவாதி என்று இங்கிலாந்து அரசாங்கம் அறிவித்து அவருக்கு மரண தண்டனை அளித்து....... உதம் சிங்கை 31 - July - 1940 இல் தூக்கில் இடுகிறார்கள். இறப்பதற்கு முன் உதம் சிங் சொல்கிறார் என் நாட்டில் வந்து 400 மக்களை கொன்றதற்கு நான் அவனை கொன்றது மிக சரியே என்று சொல்லி தூக்கு கயிற்றை முத்தம்மிடுகிறார்.

பிறகு 1974 இல் இந்திரா காந்தி பிரதமராக இருக்கும் போது உதம் சிங்கின் எச்சங்களை இந்தியா கொண்டு வரப்பட்டு எரிக்கப்பட்டு அவருடைய அஸ்தி கங்கையில் கரைக்க படுகிறது. அவருடைய உடல் பிரதமர், ஜனாதிபதி மற்றும் முதல்வர் அனைவரும் அஞ்சலி செலுத்தி அவரை தியாகி என்று புகழ்ந்துரைகிறார்கள்.

சரி இப்பொழுது விட்டையதுக்கு வருவோம் .......................................
அனால் இந்தியாவில் இருந்து ராஜிவ் காந்தியின் உத்தரவின் பேரில் இந்திய அமைதிப்படை ஈழத்திற்க்கு வந்து 5400 பொது மக்களை மற்றும் 800 பெண்களை பாலியல் பலாத்தாகாரம் செய்து கொன்றதற்கு சுபா அங்கு சென்று ஒருவனை கொன்றால் அது தவறா?

400 மக்களை கொன்றதற்கு உதம் சிங்கிற்கு இவ்வளவு வெறி வருமானால் ................... அதை விட 15 மடங்கு அதிகமான மக்களை ( 400 பேர் எங்கே - 6200 பேர் எங்கே) இந்திய அமைதி படை கொன்றதற்கு ஈழ தமிழர் எம்மக்கு எவ்வளவு வெறி வர வேண்டும் ..... வந்தது..

ஆனால் ஒருவருக்கு புரிந்தது............

"ராஜீவ் காந்தி அனுப்பிய இந்திய அமைதிப்படையில் பகத்சிங்கின் தம்பி ரன்பீர் சிங்கின் மகன் யோணன் சிங்கும் இடம் பெற்றிருந்தார். இலங்கைக்குப் போன படை இந்தியா திரும்பியவுடன், யோணன் சிங்குக்கும் வீர சாக்கார் விருது கொடுப்பதாக இந்திய அரசு அறிவித்தது. இந்த செத்ய்தியை தன் அப்பாவிடம் தெரிவித்த யோணன், விருது விழாவுக்கு அவரையும் அழைத்திருக்கிறார் .

ஆனால் ரன்பீர் சிங்கோ, ´இன விடுதலையை அடக்குவதர்காகக் கொடுக்கப்படும் விருதை விருதாகவே கருத மாட்டேன். அப்படி ஒரு விருதை வாங்கிக்கொண்டு வீட்டுக்கும் வர வேண்டாம். அந்த விருதை நீ வாங்கினால், நமக்குள் எந்த உறவும் இருக்காது`என்று சொல்ல... யோணன் அந்த விருதையே புறக்கணித்திருக்கிறார்!..

ரன்பீர் சிங் ஒன்றும் தமிழர் இல்லையே ..... பிறகு எப்படி ரன்பீர் சிங்கிற்கு புரிந்த ஈழ போராட்டத்தின் நியாயம் இந்தியாவில் இருக்கும் ஏராளமான தமிழகம் மற்றும் இந்திய நாதரிகளுக்கு புரியவில்லையே ஏன்?

ஏன் எனில் அந்த நாதரிகளுக்கு சுதந்திரம் என்பது ஓசியில் கிடைத்தது மற்றும் அடிமை வாழ்கை என்றால் என்ன என்று அவர்களுக்கு தெரியாது.............................

மேலும் ஒரு விஷயத்தை சொல்கிறேன்........................1981 october 31 இந்திரா காந்தி அவரது பாது காவலர்கலாலே சுட்டு கொல்லப்படுகிறார். அவர்களுடைய பெயர் Satwant Singh மற்றும் Beant Singh. அதாவது இந்தியாவின் பிரதமரை தன் உயிரை கொட்டுத்தாவது காப்பாற்ற வேண்டிய இந்திய இராணுவ வீரர்களோ தங்களுடைய சொந்த விருப்பு வெறுப்புகளுக்காக சுட்டு கொள்கிறார்கள். இந்திரா காந்தியை கொன்றவர்களில் ஒருவன் அப்பொழுதே கொல்லப்படுகிறார்.... மற்றொருவன் மூன்று ஆண்டுகள் களைத்து கொல்லப்படுகிறான். சீக்கிய குருமார்கள் இந்திரா காந்தியை கொன்றவர்களை சீகிய இனத்தின் தியாகியாக அறிவித்து இருக்கிறார்கள் !!!!!!!!!

இங்கே இந்திய அரசு ( காங்கிரஸ்) என்ன செய்தது .............

பிரதமரை கொன்றவனை தியாகிகள் என்று அறிவித்த இனத்தை தீவிரவாத இயக்கம் என்று சொல்லி தடை செய்திருக்க வேண்டாமா??? ஏன் செய்யவில்லை ?? மாறாக அவர்களுக்கு பிரமதர் பதவி கொடுத்து அழகு பார்க்கிறார்களே அது ஏன்???

அப்படி என்றால் ராஜீவ் காந்தியை கொன்றது சுபா தானே?? சுபா தானே அப்பொழுதே இறந்து விட்டாலே.....அதோடு சுபா கூட இருந்த ஐந்து பேரும் ( ஒற்றை கண் சிவராசன் - உட்பட ) பொங்களூரில் உள்ள வீடில் சயனைடு சாபிட்டு இறந்து விட்டார்களே பின் ஏன்???

இந்த வழக்கில் மேலும் நளினி, பேரறிவாளன் மற்றும் முருகன் ஆகியோர் 17 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேல் தனிமை சிறையிலே வாடுகின்றனரே அது ஏன்?

இதற்கு மேலும் ஏன் எம் விடுதலை போராளிகளுக்கு மட்டும் தடை ???? இந்தியாவில் பிரபாகரன் பேரை சொன்னாலே போதும் தேசிய பாதுகாப்பு சட்டம் பாயுதே ........ (NSA) ஆனால் சீக்கிய மடம் இந்திரா காந்தியை கொன்றவனை தியாகி என்கிறது ........!!!!!!

We have promised a New Dawn for Malaysia and we will deliver on our promise. We will forge ahead on our Malaysian Economic Agenda to revive the economy, and to uplift the poor and the marginalized of all races. We will restore the integrity of the judiciary, fight corruption and build a truly unified nation.

Anwar wins Malaysia vote with big majority

Landslide victory over 15,000 votes

Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim won a special election for a parliament seat Tuesday, strengthening his campaign to topple the government and become the next prime minister even though he faces a sodomy charge.

Anwar Ibrahim is the former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and is currently the de facto leader of Keadilan, the People’s Justice Party. After a distinguished career in public service he was unjustly removed from office and endured six years in solitary confinement on trumped-up charges. In 2004 those charges were dismissed and he resumed his campaign to build a prosperous, democratic and just Malaysia.

Anwar is the only Malaysian to ever make it into Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world.

Who is Anwar Ibrahim??
Anwar was born in Cherok Tok Kun, a village on the mainland side of the northern Malaysian state of Penang, to a hospital porter, Ibrahim Abdul Rahman (later to join politics and retire as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Health) and Che Yan, a housewife (and later UMNO politician). He was educated at University of Malaya, where he read Malay Studies. Prior to that, he took his secondary education at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar.

From 1968 to 1971, as a student, Anwar was the president of a Muslim students organisation, Persatuan Kebangsaan Pelajar Islam Malaysia (PKPIM). He was one of the protem committee of Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM) or Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia which was founded in 1971. He was also elected President of the Malaysian Youth Council or Majlis Belia Malaysia (MBM). In 1974, Anwar was arrested during student protests against rural poverty and hunger. He was imprisoned under the Internal Security Act, which allows for detention without trial, and spent 20 months in the Kamunting Detention Centre for political prisoners.

On April 14, 2008, Anwar celebrated his official return to the political stage, as his ban from public office expired a decade after he was fired as Deputy Prime Minister. One of the main reasons the opposition seized a third of parliamentary seats and five states in the worst ever showing for the Barisan Nasional coalition that has ruled for half a century, was due to him leading at the helm. A gathering of more than 1,000 supporters greeted Anwar in a rally welcoming his return to politics. Police interrupted Anwar after he had addressed the rally for nearly two hours and called for him to stop the gathering since there was no legal permission for the rally.

On April 29, 2008, after 10 years of absence, he returned to the Parliament, albeit upon invitation as a spouse guest of Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, People's Justice Party and the first female opposition leader in Malaysian Parliament's history. Anwar Ibrahim stated he is confident that he can win over enough government legislators in a parliamentary vote in September to end over 50 years of rule by one party. His party will stage a confidence vote on September 16 against Abdullah Badawi and needs the support of just 30 government legislators in the 222-seat lower house of parliament.

It hopes to sway ruling party lawmakers from the states of Sabah and Sarawak to oust the UMNO party from power for the first time since Malaysia won independence in 1957. On July 27, 2008, Anwar Ibrahim said that he aimed to return to Parliament if a court ordered a by-election near his home town of Permatang Pauh in Penang. He said on July 31 that he would contest a by-election for the parliamentary seat of Permatang Pauh, which was being vacated by his wife in order to expedite his return to political office. His wife Wan Azizah said she handed her letter of resignation to the parliament speaker on 31 July. Party officials said that the by-election had to be held within 60 days.

PAS showing true colors again.. PAS should realize that they would not be stronger without non-Malays votes in the past election! Malaysians do not want racial based parties. We want "Pakatan Rakyat" that would help all its citizens! They did not learn lesson from old story when PAS was kick out by BN in the 70's. Nik Aziz wants hudud, MCA flabbergasted

PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has thrown a spanner in the works on the PAS-Umno talks by suggesting that the Islamic hudud criminal law be the platform of a future union of the two rival parties.

Not surprisingly, MCA - the second largest party in the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition - is flabbergasted by the proposal.

"I am disappointed and gravely concerned with Nik Aziz's statement to implement hudud and qisas laws as it would mean the creation of a theocratic Islamic state,” MCA Youth secretary-general Wee Ka Siong.

“I urge Umno to object against PAS' proposal as it is a matter of principle," added Wee, who is vying for the Chinese-based party’s vice-president post in the upcoming polls in October.
Proposal ‘totally unacceptable’

The deputy education minister has described Nik Aziz’s idea as "totally unacceptable by MCA".
Nik Aziz, who had previously opposed talks with its ideological rival, said that his party would propose the implementation of hudud and qisas laws should the PAS-Umno merger becomes a reality.

Under Islam, crimes classified under hudud such as murder, theft and adultery carry severe punishment including the amputation of limbs and stoning to death.

Meanwhile, qisas (law of retaliation) allows for, among others, compensation in the form of money or property if the heirs of the victim forgive the murderer.

1.Harga minyak terpaksa dinaikkan ekoran harga minyak di peringkat antarabangsa melambung
tinggi.

Kenapa pula Malaysia perlu sakit. Sedangkan Malaysia negara pengeluar minyak bukan pengimport minyak.

Kalau harga minyak dunia naik maka negara kita akan bertambah kaya. Analogi yang lain, kalau kita ada dusun durian, tentu kita dan keluarga gembira kerana harga buah durian mahal.

Anak kita boleh makan dengan puas dan kita pula boleh dapat wang banyak. Tetapi pemimpin BN-Umno pula pelik apabila harga minyak dunia naik, rakyat pula menderita terutama mereka yang berpendapatan rendah.

2.Harga minyak kita lebih murah jika hendak dibanding dengan negara Asean yang lain.

Jangan banding dengan Thailand, Indonesia. Perlu banding dengan Brunai kerana harga minyak di negaranya RM1.20 seliter.

Buah Oren dengan epal tidak boleh buat perbandingan. Perlu dingat juga, walaupun Indonesia, Thailand minyaknya mahal, tetapi barang keperluan harian dan pakaian serta barang yang sudah siap murah seperti makanan, pakaian, alat perabot semuanya murah.

Di negara kita semuanya mahal daripada minyak sampai kepada keperluan yang lain. Yang murah hanya maruah pemimpin Umno-BN sahaja.

3. Minyak di Singapura lebih mahal daripada Malaysia.

Singapura bukan negara pengeluar minyak.

Tambahan pula pendapatan rakyatnya tinggi, contohnya pencuci lantai gaji hampir RM2000 ringgit di Malaysia, hanya RM600. Begitu juga pengangkutan awam antara yang terbaik di dunia, di Negara Malaysia Hadhari paling teruk.

Di negaranya tol hanya dikenakan waktu tertentu sahaja, sedangkan di Malaysia siang malam, 'non stop'.

4. Wang subsidi petrol RM56 bilion akan digunakan untuk pembangunan. Kita hendak tanya ke mana
wang subsidi ini akan pergi.

Adakah hendak belanja untuk Monsun Cup yang menghabiskan wang rakyat RM 250 juta, Formula 1 yang berapa kerat rakyat yang mampu hendak menonton. Sedangkan belanja untuk Formula 1, tahun 2004-RM98.4 juta, tahun 2005-RM110.7j, 2006-RM121.8j, 2007-130.5j.

Belanja konduktor Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra sebanyak RM3.5 juta sebulan yang diambil daripada wang Petronas. Apakah ini yang dimaksudkan untuk pembangunan.

Ketika minyak naik 30 sen kerajaan mengumumkan RM4 bilion subsidi akan digunakan untuk memperbaiki pengangkutan awam. Kita tidak nampak pengangkutan awam bertambah baik malahan makin teruk.

6. Pemimpin Umno-BN berkempen supaya beli barang murah.

Kita hendak tanya kedai mana ada jual barang murah. Kalau ada barang keperluan yang murah boleh dibeli di pejabat Umno baguslah.

7. Hendak ambil tindakan kepada peniaga yang jual barang mahal.

Pemimpin Umno/BN kata jual dengan harga lama masih untung. Mana ada peniaga hendak jual barang murah kalau modal sudah mahal.

Kalau minyak naik, semua barang akan naik, kerana barang bukan bawa dengan beca roda tiga.

Persatuan Lori sudah mengumumkan bahawa mereka akan naik tambang kos pengangkutan 35 peratus. Kerana lori 10 tan dulu hanya perlu untuk minyak RM3000 sebulan sudah mencecah naik kepada RM5000.

8. Kenyataan pemimpin Umno yang hendak membodohkan rakyat supaya jangan marah apabila
minyak naik.

"Kita bimbang sekiranya minyak murah rakyat tak cermat dan minyak akan kurang,"kata Perdana Menteri.

"Belanja secara berhemah,"kata Datin Rosmah Mansur.

"Ubah gaya hidup...membazir Islam marah,"kata Dato' Seri Najib.

Datuk Seri Shahidan Kasim sewaktu minyak naik 30 sen dulu dia suruh pegawai kerajaan naik basikal.

Saya hendak cadangkan supaya pemimpin Umno-BN ambil cermin suluh muka baru boleh nasihat rakyat.

MIC (Malaysian Indian Congress) re-branding...(semma comedy)

RM 500,000 will be spent on new uniform, new logo and letterhead. Does it make any sense? This is not a product re-branding process. If the uniform is changed, does it means MIC has change? What is the point by changing the cloths, when people inside the cloths still the same.

Changing the logo doesnt mean anything, people do not join a party or support by viewing the logo. If the logo is new, many youngster will join? Please la. It shows your lacking of idea again. Wont you learn a lesson from previous events Dr.Semi Value?

The best part is, changing letterhead. There is no point in changing letterhead while the party’s head is still the same person. What, do MIC think that Indian people is stupid and blind? We all know this trick Mr. Semi Value. By changing uniform, logo and letterhead, you are not changing anything. You said it is done to attract more youth to join? Please wake up, todays youth not like your time, when you give new cloths, money, drinks etc.. they will follow you. That time has vanished since November 25 2007.

Here what we need, Not new Uniform, but new leader to wear that Uniform! Not new logo, A new leader who can help their community. Logo doesnt mean anything! Not new letterhead, but new President name in that letterhead. We are bored with your MIC, its always about you, not the public!

Umno tidak lagi mewakili umat Melayu?

Ahli Parlimen Jerlun, Mukhriz Mahathir menuntut agar Presiden Umno, Dollah Badawi melepaskan jawatannya kerana Umno/BN kecundang di bawah kepimpinan beliau. Ahli Parlimen Gua Musang, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah pula meminta agar diadakan suatu Perhimpunan Agung Tergempar (EGM) Umno pada 11 Mei ini untuk membincangkan nasib dan masa depan Umno.

Apa khabar Umno?

Diperingkat Parlimen sahaja wakil-wakil Melayu pembangkang adalah seramai 43 orang iaitu 23 dari PAS dan 20 dari PKR (baki 11 wakil PKR adalah bukan Melayu). Ini bermakna Umno bukan lagi wakil dominan suara Melayu di Parlimen. Pada PRU ke 11 tahun 2004 lalu terdapat 107 wakil Umno di Parlimen, kini tinggal 78 (itupun termasuk wakil-wakil Umno dari Sabah).
Peralihan sokongan orang Melayu dari Umno ke PAS dan PKR kali ini sungguh tidak disangka dan kiranya trend ini dapat berkekalan sebagaimana kata Ku Li satu hari nanti Umno akan tinggal dibangku pembangkang!

Mengapa orang Melayu tinggalkan Umno?

Itulah persoalan yang perlu dibincang dan difikirkan oleh pemuka-pemuka Umno. Dulu orang Melayu tiada alternatif, tiada pilihan, sebagaiman pernah diungkapkan oleh Tun Dr Mahathir, hatta letak tunggul kayu sekalipun orang Melayu akan memangkah Umno, tetapi kini bagaimana?

Ternyata PAS telah membuktikan yang mereka juga mampu. "Style" kepimpinan PAS lebih meyakinkan dan menarik perhatian dan sokongan orang-orang Melayu. Tokoh-tokoh seperti Tok Guru Nik Abd Aziz dan Hj Abd Hadi Awang, bersih, ikhlas dan jujur, kualiti berharga yang tiada dikalangan pimpinan Umno. Tokoh-tokoh muda yang bertenaga dan berkelayakan seperti Nasharudin Mat Isa, Husam Musa, Salahuddin Ayub, Hatta Ramli, Dr Mujahid Rawa, Ir Amiruddin, Takiyuddin jauh mengerhanai pimpinan muda dalam Umno.

Begitu juga dengan pimpinan Melayu dalam PKR. Ketokohan Dato Seri Anwar tiada tolok bandingnya. Azmin Ali, Saifuddin Nasution, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim semuanya terserlah kalau nak dibandingkan dengan tokoh-tokoh yang berada dalam Umno hari ini.

Orang Melayu sudah bosan dengan rasuah, salah-gunakuasa, kronisma, nepotisma. Keyakinan terhadap Umno semakin layu dan luntur apabila pimpinan yang ada terus lesu dan tidak bermaya disamping mempamirkan akhlak dan moral yang dibenci.

Lalu bila ada pilihan, bila ada alternatif, salahkah orang Melayu bertukar selera? Bagi orang Melayu yang berani membuat perubahan dalam PRU ke 12, mereka berubah dari yang buruk kepada yang jauh lebih baik. Jangan salahkan orang Melayu. Mereka tidak durhaka, Umnolah yang telah mendurhakai amanat yang diberi. Kata Laksmana Hang Tuah "Tak Melayu hilang di dunia", memang benar. Kalau Umno hilang sekalipun, Melayu insyallah tidak hilang, kerana Umno bukan Melayu dan Melayu bukan Umno.

We have always stated that under our leadership the interests of the Malays will be protected and we remain committed to building a new system that is more just, more equitable and that ensures no one is left behind irrespective of race or religion.

We plan to implement new mechanisms to channel economic aid to the vast numbers of petty traders and small businessmen in Malay communities and ensure that educational opportunities, microcredit financing schemes, social and welfare services and other forms of economic relief are made available to the Malays.

I believe all Malaysians including the Malays are pleased with the mandate that was given to KeADILan on March 8th and they look forward to a government that is more accountable, fights corruption and delivers on its promises to promote economic growth and reduce poverty in all segments of society.

I am therefore deeply concerned with the attempt being made by certain elements to stoke the flames of racial hatred in the aftermath of the March 8th Malaysian elections. We have reason to believe that this vicious campaign is being orchestrated by a small number of very wealthy Malays and UMNO leaders who are themselves guilty of squandering and abusing the NEP to enrich themselves and their cronies at the expense of the general public. These people are now using the UMNO and government controlled media to incite fears among the Malays and deflect attention away from their electoral defeat and from UMNO’s historic failures to address the needs of all Malaysians including the poor and marginalised Malays.

I ask my fellow Malaysians to reject the desperate attempts by some UMNO members to salvage the remnants of a broken party by pandering to people’s fears and sowing divisions and disunity among the people of our nation.

We must remain united in support of a New Dawn for Malaysia.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (People's Justice Party) has a clear and firm stand on the New Economic Policy (NEP). As explained by the Ketua Umum of the Party, Anwar Ibrahim in his 20-page article as well as through his many public pronouncements and ceramah, and further reaffirmed in several Party documents, including the Election Manifesto, we intend to replace the NEP with the Malaysian Economic Agenda.

The NEP, after nearly 40 years is already anachronistic. It has been abused by a handful leaders and cronies in Umno-Bn to rob the country of its wealth to enrich themselves, in the name of the Malays as a whole. It has led to discriminatory practices that are against the spirit of justice and fairness for all Malaysians, particularly the poor, marginalised and disadvantaged groups of all races.

The Malaysian Economic Agenda aspires to: (a) institute and implement fair, just and equitable redistribution of the wealth in the country; (b) fight against and finally abolish the evil practices of corruption, cronyism and nepotism and ensure the award of contracts and projects are done in open and transparent manner; (c) continue the policy of positive discrimination in favour of poor dan deprived Bumiputera while at the same time giving equal opportunities to poor and deprived non-Bumpiputera on the basis of need and not racial greed; (d) utilise the wealthy resources of the country to provide better social facilities – especially education, health and housing – for the poor, irrespective of ethnic backgrounds; and (e) generate pro-people development and strengthen the competitive capacity of Malaysia so that she can stand tall with all developed countries, starting with those in Asia.

Those leaders of Umno-Bn and the media they own that accuse Parti Keadilan Rakyat as having no stand on the NEP and on other ways of improving the lot of the poor, marginalized and disadvantaged Malays are deliberately indulging in lies to mislead the public. We wish to emphasise that a policy of positive discrimination in favour of all Malaysians who are poor, marginalized and disadvantaged will benefit the Malay rakyat more, because they form the big majority of this category of people.

Opposition faces daunting rule after poll upsets

After stunning electoral gains that took them completely by surprise, Malaysia's opposition now faces the daunting task of running five states and a third of the national parliament.

The trio of diverse parties, which had formed a loose alliance to confront the Barisan Nasional coalition, had never dreamed of bagging such rich prizes, including the two wealthiest states Selangor and Penang - home to high-brand foreign companies such as Sony and Intel.

Now PKR, party of opposition figurehead Anwar Ibrahim, as well as the Islamic party PAS and the Chinese-dominated DAP, must form workable coalitions to govern.

"We expected to make gains in the polls but not to this extent," admitted PAS policy-maker Hatta Ramli, who said the party led by Islamic scholars would work with its new partners to deliver fair and efficient government.

"We have agreed to resolve issues via consensus. We will not go for each other's necks," he said.

PAS has already moved to dispel fears it could exert its ideology over the newly acquired states, saying it would respect minority rights and that there would not be any dramatic changes for non-Muslims.

The three parties will rule the four swing states - Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor - in various coalitions. PAS also extended its hold in northern Kelantan state, which it had ruled by a thin majority.

Attempt to sabotage

Yeah Kim Leng, group chief economist with RAM Holdings, said that although jittery investors sent the Malaysian bourse tumbling Monday, he did not expect the changeover to affect the economy and industry in key states.

"I don't think there will be any attempt to sabotage the running of the states. It will hurt the Malaysian economy if that happens because their contribution to growth is substantial," he said.

Penang, styled as Malaysia's "Silicon Valley", is home to electronic giants from the United States, Germany and Japan including Intel, Motorola, Dell and Sony.

Selangor, which surrounds Kuala Lumpur, is Malaysia's most industrialised state with thousands of manufacturing and service-related companies.

Perak and Kedah mainly rely on forestry and agricultural trade.

State media said PAS would appoint chief ministers in Kedah. The DAP will preside in Penang and a PKR chief minister will run Selangor and Perak.

Tricia Yeoh, director of the Centre for Public Policy Studies, said the opposition must ensure their pre-election alliance remains intact.

"They have started internal meetings. They have a clear vision of what they want. They will not squabble as they have strong leaders," she told AFP. "They must ensure they do not fall prey to infighting."

Liberal democracy

Yeoh said the immediate challenge would be to master the running of four new states in which they have no experience, while in the national parliament they must form a stronger check-and-balance to the coalition government.

"The overall challenge is to put Malaysia on the map towards liberal democracy. They should not use their two-third majority to turn parliament into a mere bickering session," she said.

Anwar said late Sunday that the coalition parties would be able to put aside their ideological differences and govern effectively.

He said they would "focus on the economic issue and trying to resolve some of the problems affecting the masses, particularly in the issue of poverty and the normal needs of an average citizen.

"What was promised will be enforced with the best of ability."

Ng Wei Aik, the political secretary to DAP chief Lim Guan Eng who will be Penang's new chief minister, said they must now do the job voters had handed them.

"Our immediate challenge is to gain public confidence and to serve the masses fairly and efficiently. We also need to woo value added investments and provide employement for the locals," he said.

"We can work with Keadilan and PAS. There is nothing to stop us from doing that." (-AFP)

A 'confluence of forces' had made it possible to defeat MIC president S Samy Vellu in his stronghold, said his victor Dr D Jeyakumar.

On Saturday, the 53-year-old physician staged a major upset by knocking out the 72-year-old politician on his birthday in the contest for the Sungai Siput parliamentary seat - which the latter held since 1974.

Asked how this felt, Jeyakumar replied: "It feels great!"

The Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) leader who stood under the PKR banner had contested against the MIC president and former works minister on two previous occasions.

This time around, Jeyakumar conceded that his opponent, whom he regards as formidable, had been weakened by other factors.

The PSM pro-tem central committee member also admitted that he did not expect to win. "We cannot take full credit for everything," he told Malaysiakini yesterday.

"We went in as the underdog but his (Samy Vellu) credibility had eroded terribly among the Indian voters," he said.

The MIC president's influence in the Indian community had waned in the wake of the Nov 25 rally organised by the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf).

Low-key campaign

Jeyakumar also acknowledged that Samy Vellu's campaign this time around was rather low key compared to the previous elections.

He said apart from the Hindraf factor, the work PSM had done on the ground in the constituency over the past decade as well as the hard work of the volunteers also contributed to his victory.

On top of that, he said the strong DAP candidate for the state seat and the cooperation from PAS also helped.

"The swing against BN (Barisan Nasional) was stronger than anticipated. BN has been taking the people for granted," said the PSM leader who saw an increase of support among all three races.

Jeyakumar, who is being flooded with congratulatory messages from all over the country, also revealed that he had received several death threats.

"We are concerned and are taking the necessary precautions," he said.

'We went all out'

On his plans for this term, Jeyakumar, who is still settling into his new role as a parliamentarian, replied: "I intend to bring the problems faced by the common man to Parliament."

"This elections has shown that ideology is still relevant," he added.

His wife and campaign manager R Rani said she was "delighted and overwhelmed" by the victory in what she described as "not an easy seat to win" due to the alleged underhand tactics employed by their rival.

However, the PSM pro-tem central committee member said that during the course of the campaign, there were positive vibes from all the races indicating the possibility of upstaging the incumbent.

"He (Samy Vellu) never expected to lose just like how we never expected to win," said Rani, adding that PSM "went all out" this time around.

Jeyakumar had defeated Samy Vellu with a 1,821 majority. In the 2004 polls, he lost to the MIC president by more than 10,000 votes.

KUALA LUMPUR, 9 Mac (Hrkh) - Presiden Umno, Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi perlu memikul tanggungjawab sepenuhnya bagi kekalahan teruk yang dialami Barisan Nasional (BN) dalam pilihan raya umum semalam.

"Beliau patut memikul tanggungjawab dalam soal ini, sepertimana kemenangan besar-besaran pada 2004 yang dilaporkan disebabkan oleh kewibawaan beliau, 100 peratus, dan itulah yang dikatakan oleh Setiausaha Agung Umno pada ketika itu. "Tetapi sekarang beliau juga patut memikul tanggungjawab itu 100 peratus. Beliau telah memusnahkan Umno, beliau telah memusnahkan BN, dan beliau patut bertanggungjawab bagi kekalahan teruk ini," kata Tun Mahathir Mohamad seperti dipetik Bernama dalam sidang akhbar yang diadakan beberapa jam selepas keputusan pilihan raya diumumkan, di sini hari ini.

Dr Mahathir berkata amat mengejutkan bahawa BN tumbang di lima negeri dan Wilayah Persekutuan menerusi
isyarat serupa yang ditunjukkan oleh semua tiga kaum utama - Melayu, Cina dan India. "Saya fikir orang Jepun akan melakukan harakiri. Tetapi saya rasa orang Melayu tidak sampai ke tahap itu lagi. Saya fikir beliau patut menimbangkan untuk mengundurkan diri," katanya sambil menambah beliau juga akan mengambil tindakan yang sama jika beliau berada dalam situasi seperti Abdullah.

Kepada soalan sama ada BN telah tersilap perkiraan dengan mengadakan pilihan raya umum lebih awal, Dr Mahathir berkata beliau tidak yakin bahawa dengan menangguhkannya setahun lagi akan membawa sebarang perbezaan daripada segi keputusannya, kerana rasa tidak puas hati rakyat terhadap pentadbiran Abdullah sudah
tidak dapat dibendung lagi. "Empat tahun selepas pilihan raya umum lepas, beliau telah melakukan banyak perkara yang salah tetapi mereka ini (media) terus melaporkan betapa rakyat menyayanginya," kata bekas Perdana Menteri itu.

Pelbagai isu yang membawa kepada rasa tidak puas hati terhadap kerajaan termasuk persepsi bahawa disebalik angka pertumbuhan ekonomi yang tinggi diumumkan oleh kerajaan serta pelancaran wilayah-wilayah pembangunan, rakyat di peringkat akar umbi tidak berasa apa-apa (faedahnya). "Mereka mendapati bahawa kerajaan ini ditadbir oleh sebuah keluarga bagi kepentingan keluarga itu. Selagi wujud keadaan lebih mengutamakan keluarga daripada Kabinet, kerajaan sendiri, saya fikir rakyat akan mahu menentang mereka," katanya.

Kepada soalan lain, Dr Mahathir berkata bagaimanapun terserah kepada Umno untuk memutuskan mengenai pengganti Abdullah sekiranya beliau meletakkan jawatan, atau mungkin Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak boleh mengambil alih. "Dato' Seri Najib telah meraih kemenangan mengagumkan, lebih baik daripada keputusan pada 2004 yang merupakan tahun terbaik bagi BN. Majoriti yang diperoleh beliau meningkat manakala kemerosotan undi Abdullah agak ketara," katanya.

Dr Mahathir berkata sebuah kerajaan yang dibentuk dengan majoriti mudah adalah sebuah kerajaan yang lemah terutama dalam sebuah negara berbilang kaum yang antara lain boleh menyebabkan ketidakstabilan, dan kemudiannya menjejaskan keyakinan pelabur. Beliau, bagaimanapun, berkata masih ada harapan bagi BN untuk memperbetulkan keadaan itu dengan syarat mereka mesti memberi perhatian terhadap isyarat yang diberikan oleh rakyat.

Kepada satu lagi soalan, Dr Mahathir berkata beliau percaya ia pastinya sukar bagi Abdullah untuk mengundurkan diri secara sukarela kerana, sehingga kini, Abdullah masih tidak cuba memahami kerumitan daripada kekalahan itu dan sebaliknya menyalahkan orang ramai bagi kekalahan itu. Melahirkan rasa sedih beliau dengan kekalahan itu, bekas Perdana Menteri berkata beliau tidak menjangka yang BN akan kalah seteruk itu.

Mengenai kebangkitan semula Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim dalam pilihan raya ini, Dr Mahathir berkata beliau percaya bahawa Anwar masih "relevan" tetapi beliau sama sekali tidak akan menjadi Perdana Menteri negara ini. Dr Mahathir berkata beliau akan terus memainkan peranan sebagai seorang warganegara dengan menyuarakan dan berkongsi pendapatnya jika perlu. "Saya tidak mahu sebarang gelaran rasmi, menteri kanan atau penasihat tetapi jika mereka datang kepada saya dan meminta nasihat saya, saya bersedia untuk berkongsinya demi faedah negara," katanya.

Mengenai kemenangan anaknya Dato' Mukhriz di kawasan Parlimen Jerlun, beliau berkata ia cuma kejayaan biasa, meskipun dengan majoriti lebih besar. - mks.

KEDUDUKAN Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi sebagai Perdana Menteri Malaysia 'bagaikan telur di hujung tanduk' akibat kekalahan teruk Barisan Nasional dalam Pilihan Raya Umum ke 12 semalam.

Pada saat ini khabarnya Abdullah menerima desakan yang paling hebat untuk beliau meletakkan jawatan sebagai PM dan Presiden Umno selepas BN kehilangan majoriti di Parlimen serta tewas mengejut di Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak dan Selangor.

Tiada lagi keangkuhan dan tidak lagi mendabik dada. Kali ini pemimpin Umno/BN senyap sepi enggan menemui wartawan untuk memberikan komen.

Ibu pejabat BN di PWTC semalam begitu muram. Abdullah dan lain-lain pemimpin BN dilaporkan 'menguncikan diri' di dalam bilik mesyuarat.

Tidak ada live telecast seperti biasa dari PWTC. Yang ada cuma paparan celoteh penganalisis politik yang terkejut dengan kebangkitan rakyat menolak BN.

Daripada 222 kerusi Parlimen, BN hanya memperolehi 137 kerusi sahaja. PRU ke 12 mencatat rekod paling buruk apabila BN kehilangan dua pertiga majoriti, pertama kali selepas lebih 50 tahun berkuasa.

Walaupun BN sudah menang simple majority, kerajaan baru masih belum dibentuk kerana ramai pemimpin utama BN tewas mengejut.

Mana dia slogan 'Selamat, Aman dan Makmur'? Mana dia slogan Islam Hadhari? Mana dia janji pembangunan koridor ekonomi? Mana dia WPI?

Semuanya ditolak rakyat dari kalangan Melayu, Cina dan India.

Khairy adalah burden besar bagi BN

Serentak dengan gesaan supaya Abdullah meletakkan jawatan oleh bekas PM, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, pemimpin-pemimpin Umno seluruh negara mula menuding jari terhadap menantunya Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar.

Rata-rata ahli Umno menganggap failure BN khususnya Umno kali ini berpunca daripada campur tangan berleluasa Khairy sebagai menantu PM dalam parti dan kerajaan.

Kesilapan besar Abdullah antaranya walaupun beliau mempunyai anggota Majlis Tertinggi Umno dan Kabinet sebagai penasihat utamanya, namun beliau tidak mengambil pandangan mereka kerana dilaporkan beliau pernah berkata I trust the young one.

Khairy, Kamaluddin Abdullah dan rakan-rakan mereka seperti Kamal Khalid, Kalimullah Masheerul Hassan serta beberapa yang lain didakwa orang-orang Umno sebagai punca kepada kelemahan kepimpinan Abdullah.

Masalah yang paling besar didakwa orang-orang Umno ialah campur tangan Khairy meletakkan orang-orangnya dalam senarai calon BN sehingga mengetepikan ramai incumbent.

Akibat daripada campur tangan ini, orang-orang Umno memboikot calon BN, jentera pilihan raya tidak digerakkan dan mereka enggan keluar mengundi calon pilihan Khairy.

PRU kali ini menyaksikan jentera Umno/BN benar-benar tidak bergerak, kaku dan mandom dalam menghadapi kempen PAS, KeADILan dan DAP.

Keangkuhan Khairy dan juak-juaknya ketika berkempen mengecam PAS untuk menjatuhkan kerajaan pimpinan Tuan Guru Dato' Nik Aziz Nik Mat, dibalas dengan kekalahan yang memalukan.

Ternyata rakyat tidak menerima slogan 'Pade Doh 18 Tahun PAS' (di Kelantan) sebaliknya rakyat membalasnya dengan 'Pade Doh 50 Tahun BN' memerintah Malaysia.

Khairy and his friends has no face right now, komen seorang wartawan asing.

Benar Khairy sudah tidak tahu mana hendak meletak muka, walaupun beliau menang di Rembau, rata-rata ahli Umno tanpa segan silu menyalahkannya.

Rakan-rakan rapat Khairy juga dikhabarkan terpaksa 'menyembunyikan diri' dari orang-orang Umno yang begitu marah sekarang.

‘Tidak pernah terbayang Dato' Seri Mohd Khir Toyo, Dato' Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali dan Dato' Seri Mahdzir Khalid menjadi ketua pembangkang di negeri masing-masing’ kata seorang penganalisis.

Krisis dalaman Umno yang memuncak

Umno kini sudah semakin berkecamuk. Keputusan yang mengejutkan ini menyebabkan Umno benar-benar buntu.

MCA, Gerakan dan MIC juga menerima tamparan yang memalukan. Jelas rakyat sudah menolak mereka.

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Ong Ka Ting, Samy Vellu dan Koh Tsu Koon sudah tidak diterima rakyat Malaysia.

Dalam Umno, kini krisis dalaman mereka semakin memuncak. Umno harus 'direvamp'. Abdullah didesak melepaskan jawatan untuk diserahkan kepada Dato' Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak.

The fake victory in 2004 sudah berakhir. BN sudah merudum di zaman kepimpinan Abdullah.

Jika dalam waktu yang terdekat ini Abdullah terpaksa melepaskan jawatan, maka impian Khairy untuk menjadi PM dalam usia 40 tahun terkubur buat selama-lamanya.

Episod baru kepimpinan Umno/BN akan bermula pada bila-bila masa. Kita tunggu dan lihat bagaimana rakyat menerimanya. - mks.
